Themed Cocktail

Leopold's Manhattan

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz rye whiskey
  • 1 oz sweet vermouth
  • 0.25 oz maraschino liqueur
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 2 dashes orange bitters
  • Brandied cherry for garnish

Instructions:

  1. 1Chill a coupe or Nick and Nora glass in the freezer for 5 minutes
  2. 2Combine rye whiskey, sweet vermouth, maraschino liqueur, and both bitters in a mixing glass with ice
  3. 3Stir with a bar spoon for 40 full rotations — as a Victorian duke would insist
  4. 4Strain into the chilled glass with maximum elegance
  5. 5The drink should be a deep amber red, clear, and perfectly balanced
  6. 6Garnish with a brandied cherry on a long cocktail pick placed across the rim
