Themed Cocktail
The Differential
Ingredients:
- 1.5 oz rye whiskey
- 0.5 oz Islay Scotch (Laphroaig for smoke)
- 0.25 oz simple syrup
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- 1 dash orange bitters
- 1 orange peel
Instructions:
- 1Rinse a rocks glass with the Islay Scotch and discard the excess — just the smoke stays.
- 2Combine rye, simple syrup, and both bitters in a mixing glass with ice.
- 3Stir for 30 seconds and strain into the scotch-rinsed rocks glass over a large ice cube.
- 4Express the orange peel sharply over the top — the oils should coat the surface.
- 5Drop the peel in. Everybody lies. This drink does not.
