The Clown Prince

Ingredients

• 1.5 oz mezcal
• 0.75 oz Aperol
• 0.5 oz fresh lime juice
• 0.5 oz black cherry syrup
• 2 dashes Angostura bitters
• 1 tsp activated charcoal simple syrup

Instructions

1. 1Combine mezcal, Aperol, lime juice, black cherry syrup, and bitters in a cocktail shaker with ice.
2. 2Shake hard for 15 seconds until well chilled.
3. 3Double-strain into a chilled coupe glass.
4. 4Float the activated charcoal syrup over the back of a spoon to create a dark swirling layer.
5. 5Garnish with a skewered Luxardo cherry and a thin slice of lime with a notch cut out like a smile.
