The Ultimate Star Wars Drinking Game Guide: 11 Films, 11 Cocktails, One Very Long Night

The Sipper

We did it. Every Star Wars movie. All eleven of them. A drinking game for each one and a cocktail to match.

This started as a simple question: what does a Star Wars marathon actually taste like? Not the popcorn-and-soda version. The version where every Force choke gets a sip, every lightsaber ignition gets a toast, and Jar Jar Binks existing at all gets whatever's left in your glass.

Here's the full lineup, in chronological order. We recommend picking your era and committing to it. All eleven in one sitting is technically possible but medically inadvisable.

The Prequel Trilogy

Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1999)

The Game: Jar Jar alone will keep your glass busy. Add in Qui-Gon's Force lectures, the podrace, and Duel of the Fates, and you've got a surprisingly solid warm-up round.

The Cocktail: [The Sebulba Sidecar](/cocktail/star-wars-the-phantom-menace-1999) — Cognac, orange liqueur, a half-rimmed sugar glass. One side plays dirty, one side plays clean.

Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002)

The Game: Anakin's sand monologue is a guaranteed Drink Twice. C-3PO's body-swap puns in the droid factory keep the sips rolling. Yoda going full gremlin against Dooku is worth the whole setup.

The Cocktail: [The Kamino Downpour](/cocktail/star-wars-attack-of-the-clones-2002) . Gin, elderflower, coconut water, tonic. Pale and cold, like a clone facility on an ocean planet.

Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005)

The Game: This one hits different. Order 66 is a Drink Twice montage that might actually make you emotional. "You were the Chosen One!" is a Shot. The Vader mask lowering onto Anakin's burned face is the Chug, and you will feel it.

The Cocktail: [The Mustafar Meltdown](/cocktail/star-wars-revenge-of-the-sith-2005) . Mezcal, Ancho Reyes, lime, agave. Smoky, spicy, and it burns on the way down. Obviously.

The Original Trilogy

Episode IV: A New Hope (1977)

The Game: The one that started everything. Twin sunset stares, C-3PO's survival odds, Han leaning back in the Falcon cockpit like he owns the galaxy. The medal ceremony Chug at the end is earned.

The Cocktail: [The Tatooine Sunset](/cocktail/star-wars) . The original. The classic. Two suns in a glass.

Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (1980)

The Game: Yoda's backwards syntax alone could wreck you. AT-ATs on Hoth, the Han-and-Leia tension loop, and then the big one: "I am your father." Shot. Followed by Luke's freefall Chug.

The Cocktail: [The Carbonite Freeze](/cocktail/star-wars-the-empire-strikes-back-1980) . Gin, Lillet, lavender, butterfly pea extract. The color shifts from gold to steel-grey as you watch. Cold as carbonite.

Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (1983)

The Game: Ewok violence is surprisingly frequent. The Emperor's drawn-out "gooood" is a reliable Sip machine. Vader throwing Palpatine down the shaft is a Shot. The Force ghost bonfire ending is the Chug, and if you're not a little emotional by then, check your midi-chlorians.

The Cocktail: [The Endor Bonfire](/cocktail/star-wars-return-of-the-jedi-1983) . Bourbon, allspice dram, honey. Warm, celebratory, best served around a fire with friends.

The Anthology Films

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016)

The Game: The grittiest Star Wars game we've made. No Jedi, no lightsabers (mostly), just a crew on a suicide mission and the best Vader hallway scene in the franchise.

The Cocktail: [The Jedha Kyber](/cocktail/rogue-one-a-star-wars-story) . Sharp, focused, no wasted ingredients.

Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)

The Game: Lando's cape adjustments. L3's droid rights lectures. Han shooting first (again). The Kessel Run is the Chug, and the Falcon barely makes it. Neither will you.

The Cocktail: [The Kessel Run](/cocktail/solo-a-star-wars-story-2018) . Rye, Amaro Montenegro, lemon, demerara. Dark, fast, a little rough. Like its namesake pilot.

The Sequel Trilogy

Episode VII: The Force Awakens (2015)

The Game: BB-8's thumbs-up lighter. Rey's staff fights. Kylo Ren's tantrums. Han saying "Chewie, we're home" hits harder now than it did in the theater.

The Cocktail: [The Jakku Scavenger](/cocktail/star-wars-the-force-awakens) . Scrappy, resourceful, and better than it looks.

Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (2017)

The Game: Luke milking that sea creature is a guaranteed group reaction. Holdo's lightspeed ram is silent in the film and deafening at your party. Yoda burning the Jedi tree is a Shot, and yes, puppet Yoda counts extra.

The Cocktail: [The Crait Crystal Fox](/cocktail/star-wars-the-last-jedi) . Bright, surprising, with more going on than the surface shows.

Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker (2019)

The Game: Palpatine's back, the Force Dyad connects Rey and Kylo across the galaxy, and C-3PO's eyes go Sith red. The final Chug is Rey burying the lightsabers on Tatooine and choosing her name. Full circle.

The Cocktail: [The Dyad](/cocktail/star-wars-the-rise-of-skywalker-2019) . Gin and dark rum layered in the same glass. Light and dark. Two spirits that shouldn't work together, but somehow do.

Marathon Guides

The Original Run (3 films, ~6.5 hours): Episodes IV, V, VI. Start with The Tatooine Sunset. End with The Endor Bonfire. Peak at The Carbonite Freeze when Han goes under. This is the safest marathon. Relatively.

The Machete Order (5 films, ~11 hours): IV, V, II, III, VI. Skip Phantom Menace, use the prequels as a flashback after "I am your father," then finish with Jedi. The cocktails follow the same emotional arc: warm start, cold middle, volcanic detour, warm landing.

The Full Saga (11 films, ~24 hours): Chronological, I through IX plus Rogue One and Solo slotted by timeline. Bring friends. Bring water. Bring a designated non-drinker who can operate the remote. We believe in you, but we also believe in pacing.
