The Rules

  • Sip — Danny Archer says 'TIA' (This Is Africa)
  • Sip — Solomon calls out for his son Dia by name
  • Sip — a diamond is shown being smuggled or hidden
  • Sip — someone speaks in a thick South African accent and you catch it
  • Sip — the RUF rebels appear on screen with weapons
  • Drink Twice — Archer and Solomon argue about who needs whom more
  • Drink Twice — a child soldier is shown being recruited or used
  • Drink Twice — the pink diamond is found or shown in close-up
  • Shot — Archer says 'I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be'
  • Shot — Solomon finally reaches Dia and Dia points a gun at him
  • Chug — the final scene where Archer dies overlooking the mountains

Themed Cocktail

The Sierra Leone Sunset

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz aged rum
  • 0.75 oz fresh lime juice
  • 0.5 oz grenadine
  • 0.5 oz simple syrup
  • 2 oz fresh orange juice
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters

Instructions:

  1. 1Fill a rocks glass with large ice cubes.
  2. 2Combine rum, lime juice, simple syrup, and bitters in a shaker with ice.
  3. 3Shake vigorously for 10 seconds and strain into the glass.
  4. 4Pour orange juice gently over the back of a spoon to float it on top.
  5. 5Slowly drizzle grenadine along the edge so it sinks to create a sunset gradient.
